Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

I love to bake and try new gluten free recipes along the road. I decided to edit a few gluten free recipes and put them together for this one. Let me know if your cookies turn out as good as mine :)

375 degrees

1 3/4 cups brown rice flour
1/4 cups coconut flour or tapioca flour
1/4 cups sweet rice flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 stick plus 2 Tbls butter, softened or 3/4cups coconut oil
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar (use 1/4 cup if you want to tone down the sweetness)
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp creme of tartar
2 cups choc chips

Blend first 6 ingredients together plus the sugars.
Beat the eggs, vanilla, and creme of tartar together for about 1 min.
Mix dry ingredients with the eggs. Add Chocolate chips. Batter should look crumbly, but should be able to be rolled into tight balls.
Roll batter into balls and place on a sprayed cookie pan. Once the dough softens in the oven flatten cookie into a circle with a spoon or flat utensil. Cook them enough so they stick together. Cook for 10-12 mins.

Brie and Green Apple Wrap

Looking for a light and healthy lunch? Here is an amazing recipe I put together! Let me know how you like it.
1 gluten free wrap
Favorite jam (I used organic strawberry jam, but fig or others would taste great too)
Creamy Brie
Organic green apples--sliced very thin
Organic Lettuce
OPTIONAL--turkey or chicken

Put your favorite jam on the gluten free wrap, add thinly sliced green apples and brie to half the wrap. Toast in toaster oven until crispy. Add lettuce, and cut half into half one more time. Do the same thing to the other half of the wrap. Feel free to add your favorite organic turkey or chicken to the wrap for more protein! Enjoy!!

Gluten Free Lasagna

Everyone should minimize or eliminate gluten from their diet and one of the ways to do that is in basic recipes like lasagna and spaghetti. Brown rice products are healthy and gluten free! They do not taste any different from your gluten counter parts. Replace any recipe with a gluten free product and let me know your results!

1 whole onion
1.5lb of grass fed beef or ground turkey
*2 cans of organic tomatoes (use basil, oregano, and garlic OR for a little kick fire roasted)--drained
1.5 tsp of each parsley, and oregano
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 whole zucchinis
2-3 cups of fresh spinach--chopped
1.5-2 cups of fresh basil--chopped
17 oz of ricotta cheese
1/4 tsp nutmeg
6 gluten free brown rice lasagna noodles
1 whole block of mozzarella sliced in circles
6 oz of shredded Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 375F
Spray large 9x13in glass pan

Saute onion for 2 mins then add beef/turkey and cook for 5-7mins. Add tomatoes, seasonings, and zucchini simmer for 2 mins. In a bowl, combine spinach, basil, nutmeg, and ricotta cheese. Cook pasta according to instructions. Drain and rinse with water. Arrange 3 noodles on bottom of pan and layer ricotta mixture, meat mixture, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers (should only be two) ending with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake 20-25 mins or until lasagna bubbles.

*Canned tomatoes are one of the most toxic foods you can eat (the aluminum leaches into the product because of the citric acid); however, they are easy in recipes like this. If you do not want to use them use 3 cups of tomato sauce.

My Favorite All Natural Household Tricks

In this economy people are always looking for ways to cut back on spending. Here are some of my all natural, homemade household tricks that are super cheap and really work!

First, if you don't already know, you will know now, that dryer sheets are extremely toxic. They smell great, but all of that fragrance you are smelling is very toxic. It causes allergies, skin irritations, and causes asthma to get worse. What else can you use instead? Put a few drops of your favorite essential oil (I prefer lavender--stress reliever and relaxing, but eucalyptus and jasmine smell great too) on your wet clothes before you start drying! Also, add 2-3 tightly rolled aluminum foil balls to your laundry for a natural approach to REMOVING all static from your clothes or you can put a wet rag with some essential oil on it to help reduce static. This natural and cheap way makes your clothes static free and smelling good with non-toxic, all-natural fragrance.
You can also purchase the dryer balls at a Bed Bath and Beyond. Anything is better than dryer sheets!!! 

Second, white vinegar and water for sparkling clean windows and mirrors. Vinegar is really cheap. Add half vinegar, half water to a spray bottle and wipe down your window or mirror, and then use dry towel to dry the window/mirror for a streak free shine.

Third, use hydrogen peroxide as a natural teeth whitening and mouth cleaner. Before you brush your teeth, swish some 3% hydrogen peroxide mixed with a little water in your mouth for 30 secs. Spit and then proceed to brush your teeth. Doing this everyday will clean out your mouth and whiten your teeth!  

Fourth, use a liberal amount of salt on wine stains. Immediately after you spill your wine, pour a large amount of salt on the stain and let it sit for many hours until it has soaked up the wine, proceed to vacuum up and the stain will be gone.

Fifth, use baking soda as a cleaner, de-clogger, and deodorizer. Do you have a drain that is clogged? Dump a bunch of baking soda down your drain and add distilled white vinegar (like you did for your elementary school volcano science projects), flush with boiling water, repeat until clog is gone (depending on how clogged your drain is, it should work after 2-3 tries)!
Use a wet cloth and apply baking soda to your tub, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub it clean.
Dump some baking soda at the bottom of your trash bag to help with your trash odors, or put it on your carpets let it sit for a few hours then vacuum up (this is a way better option than those harmfully toxic, carpet deodorizing products in the stores)! Add it to your laundry to whiten it up as well. 

Lastly, for severe dry skin or other skin disorders give Tamanu oil a try. I use it under my eyes to moisturize and prevent wrinkles, but it can be used on cuts and scars since it is a natural antibiotic and helps regenerate new skin tissue. Coconut oil works wonders as well :)

Natural Approaches to Feeling Better Fast

Sick? Getting Sick? Not Anymore....

Everyone gets a cold every now and again; however, if that cold and your immune system aren't treated, it could turn into something worse! Here are some of my homemade remedies and suggestions for kicking that colds booty before it gets any worse and to keep you from taking those horrible store bought pills/supplements that just heal your symptoms and not the underlying root of the problem.

1) Daily Neti Pot This helps clear out allergens in your nasal cavity, especially during these high pollen months. I swear by this natural process. If it doesn't go through the first time blow your nose and keep trying. Use the warmest water your nose can stand to break up the clogs and send it all down the drain.

2) Up your Vitamin D3 amount. I recommend 5000 ius daily, but you can take up to 10,000. If you want to build up your immune system up your dose and get out into the sunshine! http://www.yayasdream.blogspot.com/2009/12/importance-of-vitamin-d3.html

3) Liquid Colloidal Silver. I swear by this stuff. The minute you think you might be coming down with a cold take a swig of this stuff. Take it a few times a day and it will not only build up your immune system, but it will kick the cold symptoms by killing the bad bacteria. Even if you are already sick start taking this to help heal your body quicker. If you have any wounds or cuts put this on it to heal them as well.

4) Apple Cider Vinegar If you can't stand to take a shot of this by itself then make my homemade tea recipe. This is a fantastic way to fight colds and again, build up your immune system. Make sure your ACV is RAW, UNPASTEURIZED, and UNFILTERED.

ACV Tea:
1/3 cup Raw, unpasteurized and unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbsp Raw Honey
Splash of lime juice
Fill coffee mug with HOT WATER
Drink this 2-4 times daily until cold symptoms get better :)

5) Eat fresh, organic fruits and veggies. Since fruit turns into fructose keep it to ONE PIECE of fruit daily. Stick to only those that are VERY high in Vitamin C (oranges, strawberries, clementines, kiwi). I also recommend eating a lot more Kale, Bell peppers, Thyme, Parsley, and Broccoli before and during your cold.

6) Zinc

7) Limit and/or eliminate sugar and alcohol during cold.

8) Raw Garlic eat one clove of garlic one to two times a day (DO NOT TAKE GARLIC PILLS--not the same). If you don't want to smell like garlic then mince it up and swallow it like a pill, but if you are like me and can eat raw garlic like its going out of style then chew a few pieces a day and you'll strengthen your immune system and fight that cold faster than you thought.

9) Sleep!!!

10) Exercise Get that heart pumping and that sweat going! Sweating is great because it gets rid of your internal toxins healing your body from the inside out.

11) Sauna

12) Swig Salt Water for sore throats or strep. Mix salt into luke warm water and stir until salt is dissolved. Put as much salt as you can handle. Do this multiple times a day.

Best Organic Shampoo & Conditioner

I've tried a ton of organic, all natural shampoos and conditioners and I haven't liked any up until now. KeVita-- Organic Probiotic Drink

Recently I've been researching probiotic supplements and which brand is the best. I still am in the process of looking for the best one, but in the meantime I found a fantastic substitute--KeVita Probiotic Drink. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I don't know about you, but my dogs are not picky eaters; however, it does take them all day to eat dry dog food. I tried the frozen raw food, but to my surprise they did not really like it! Angel liked to eat it frozen, while Zeus would eat it because it was the only thing in his food bowl. Kale Crisps

Love potato chips? Love that salty crunch? Well, I now have an amazing chip substitute that tastes great and is a super food too--KALE! This is a simple and easy recipe that allows you to save them in a plastic bag for a week to a week in a half! My only suggestion is bake a lot of them because they go FAST! 
Kale Crisps
Oven: Low Broil
2 bunches of kale
olive oil
optional: turmeric powder, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder etc...

Strip all of the kale leaves from their stocks. The easiest way to do this is to zip your hand down the stock and where it breaks is what you throw out (or juice!!!). Fill a cookie sheet with as much kale as you can fit. Sprinkle salt and olive oil evenly on the kale leaves (bc the kale shrinks you need to put less salt than you think, you can always add more later). Bake in the oven on LOW broil. Certain pieces will cook faster than others, so PULL out the pieces that are done and let the others cook. Kale is done cooking when it is crisp--not burnt! Enjoy!

NOTE:  The Kale shrinks to almost half of its size.

Enjoy Kale crunched up over salads, on eggs, as a chip substitute, on top of soup etc...

Vaccines: More Harmful than Helpful?

 Have you noticed that their are more children and adults with allergies, health issues, skin problems, crohn's disease, ADD, ADHD, and even more serious problems like autism? After doing a lot of research I have come to a conclusion that there is a contributing factor to all of these health issues---Vaccines!

Since we were little we have been told that vaccines are necessary to keep us strong and healthy; however, I have found that the more I research the more I discover this is not the truth and here is why.

Vaccines Cured Polio Didn't They?

There's an age old theory that says "vaccines eradicated polio in the 1940's" and if we don't vaccinate ourselves and our children then another horrible outbreak will occur just like it did in the '40's; however, this can not be further from the truth. Cutter Labs created a polio vaccine that was given to a large population of adults and children, but it actually contained a LIVE POLIO VIRUS that ultimately started a huge polio outbreak.[The Cutter Incident: How America's First Polio Vaccine Led to the Growing Vaccine Crisis by Dr. Paul A. Offit, M.D.]  Polio was already declining in the U.S. and Europe during the 40's and  50's, as well as in England, where polio moralities was at its height in 1950, but had declined 82% by 1956, before the Salk vaccinations began. Paralysis started to rise only after the Salk vaccine had begun in April 1955. It proved to be so hazardous that by November 1955, all European countries, with the exception of Denmark, had cancelled or discontinued their Salk vaccine programs. "It is evident that the vaccine failed," Dr. Herald R. Cox of Lederle Laboratories said. Polio cases rose about 300 to 400% in these 5 places that made the Salk vaccine compulsory by law:
  • North Carolina: 78 cases in 1958 before compulsory shots. 313 cases in 1959
  • Connecticut: 45 cases in 1958 before compulsory shots. 123 cases in 1959
  • Tennessee: 119 cases in 1958 before compulsory shots. 386 cases in 1959
  • Ohio: 17 cases in 1958 before compulsory shots. 52 cases in 1959
  • Los Angeles: 89 cases in 1958 before compulsory shots. 190 cases in 1959

Polio cases also began to soar in 1948-9 when pertussis vaccines began. In short, humans require an  alkaline-forming diet for health. An acid-forming diet causes disease. There is evidence to show that in all cases of polio, there is a deficiency in blood calcium. What lowers blood calcium? Acid-forming foods (practically everything except raw fruits and vegetables). When the first, injectable, polio vaccine was tested on some 1.8 million children in the United States in 1954, within 9 days there was a huge epidemic of paralytic polio in the vaccinated and some of their parents and other contacts. The US Surgeon General discontinued the trial for 2 weeks...According to one of the 1997 issues of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), there are some 30,000 to 50,000 cases of viral meningitis per year in the United States alone. That's where all those 30,000-50,000 cases of polio disappeared to after the introduction of mass vaccinations. One must also be aware that polio is a man-made disease since those well-publicized outbreaks are misrepresented and were causally linked to intensified diphtheria and other vaccinations at the relevant time. What Additives are in Vaccines
1) Aluminum 
2) Mercury (aka Thimerosal)
3) Formaldehyde
4) Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)

  • "Chemicals are added to vaccines to inactivate a virus or bacteria and stabilize the vaccine, helping to preserve the vaccine and prevent it from losing its potency over time."
  • "Preservatives and stabilizers to help the vaccine remain unchanged (e.g. albumin, phenols, and glycine)."
  • "Adjuvants (a pharmacological agent added to a drug to increase or aid its effect and an immunological agent that increases the antigenic response) or enhancers the help the vaccine to be more effective."
CDC claims that the chemical amounts in the vaccines are "safe at these doses;" however, if you read their website regarding aluminum you will find that if your liver does not eliminate aluminum it WILL start to accumulate in your body overtime. In 2001 CDC claimed the following [Natural Life News, "Vaccinate or Vacci-not? Who Can you Trust"]:  
  • Vaccines are NOT responsible for the eradication of diseases, such as polio and smallpox
  • Vaccines have NOT proven to be safe for the individual
  • When a vaccine is called "effective," it's not the same as being "protective."
  • Vaccines are NOT relatively harmless.
 Can It Get Any Worse????

The vaccines that we inject into our bodies have been tested on monkey ball and kidney cells to warrant their safety; however, monkeys harbor many diseases that we don't even know about. Monkeys carry a lot of unknown diseases and once the monkey cell culture enters the human body it could, can, and has created viruses/infections/diseases that we never knew existed. I will write more regarding the accusations that Wakefield's studies are incorrect and fraudulent, but for now I will just say that the tests preformed in his book regarding vaccinated monkeys and non-vaccinated monkeys showed that the non-vaccinated monkeys preformed at a higher rate than the vaccinated monkeys. If I Choose Not to Receive Vaccines How Do I Make Sure I Stay Healthy?  
The reason vaccines look so appealing to the majority of people is because they are always getting sick. Most people want to do everything they can to PREVENT getting sick and they think that vaccines are actually helping them do this; however, vaccines actually WEAKEN the already weak immune system by causing our C-Reactive Proteins (CRPs which measure the inflammation in your body) to rise.  Vaccines create a bodily inflammation response that make the T and B cells (white blood cells) function ABNORMALLY. Most Americans ALREADY have weak immune systems because they are full of chemicals and toxins from their daily diet (Fast Food, no veggies, non-organic products, packaged snacks etc..), so weakening that immune system even more causes greater harm on the bodies natural response to fight off disease; hence, an increase in allergies, ADD, ADHD, and even autism. 

Do I believe that vaccines are the reason we have an increase in all of the above health problems? No, I do not believe that they are the sole reason, but I do believe that based on my research, they are a contributing factor to health issues that are facing this country right now. If we as individuals, can keep our constitutional rights to stand up for what we personally think is best, then I believe that we will be providing a healthier future for our children by creating healthier immune systems that do not rely on poisonous and toxic vaccinations. 

But there are ways to change this and fill our bodies with what it needs the most: 
Natural Defense Against Diseases and Toxins 
  1. Probiotics (RAW cow and goats milk/yogurt, veggie capsules that contain the DDS-1 strain)
  2. Digestive Enzymes 
  3. Detox twice a year
  4. Detox liver (dandelion tea, milk thistle, chlorella)--necessary if on prescription medicines, antibiotics, been exposed to mercury or aluminum and want to get them out of your system.
  5. Acupuncture
  6. Organic diet (grass fed, no hormone beef/chicken, organic fruits and veggies)
  7. Eliminate daily toxins and chemicals (bring your lunch instead of eating out, use glass instead of plastic, NEVER use the microwave, minimize use of canned foods, eat only WILD caught fish, DON'T eat fish while pregnant etc...)
  8. Drink pure water (osmosis water is best)
  9. D3 supplements and sun exposure
  10. Exercise
  11. Natural body products (lotions, creams, face wash, make-up, shampoo/conditioner, body wash)
  12. Minced Raw garlic daily (mince FRESH organic garlic and swallow like a pill daily)
  13. Include in diet as often as you can: Ginger, onions, and raw organic herbs
  14. Don't be too clean! Exposing yourself to germs helps build up your bodies immunity to them.(Don't use hand sanitizer all of the time)!
  15. Stay AWAY from ALL Genetically Modified Foods (GMO)
Vaccines destroy and weaken an already WEAK immune system by adding toxins to an already toxic environment. Instead, make a lifestyle change and strengthen your immune system naturally, so that your body can start to fight off diseases and viruses FOR GOOD!
